Bandirran estate sits beside the Sidlaw hills in a beautiful setting in rural Perthshire. The estate combines organic farming, quality shooting and rural properties with the most recent enterprise, Bandirran Garden.
Trading as Culfargie Estate, the inhand farming enterprise covers 3600 acres of Perthshire countryside. The farm produces arable crops of wheat, oats, barley and beans while cattle and sheep graze the upland pastures. We produce oats for Quaker at Cupar, and supply wheat for local feed mills. Our organic lambs are sold through Highland Glen producers to supply local shops. Our organic suckler herd is grazed on lush herb-rich spring pastures resulting in healthy animals and flavoursome meat.
Conservation plays a central role in the farming business and we have won several awards for hedgerows and environmental care. An essential element in the preservation of farming is to protect its natural assets - air, soil and water. Watercourses are buffered by grass margins which help to keep water clean as well as providing a rich habitat for wildlife.
Tarrylaw is a LEAF demonstration farm within the estate where parties of visitors are welcomed by arrangement.
LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) is the UK's leading charitable body devoted to promoting sustainable integrated farming and building stronger links between the farming and consumer communities.
